Announcing Open Hand Fluffer Nutter
San Francisco, CA–Project Open Hand,a local non-profit food relief organization, and Humphry Slocombe, the latest addition to San Francisco’s gourmet ice cream scene, are excited to announce a new collaborative effort. On Monday, December 6th, Humphry Slocombe will be giving away servings of their newest ice cream flavor, Open Hand Fluffer Nutter, from 4-7pm. This homemade marshmallow fluff and Project Open Hand peanut butter fusion creates the perfect balance of sweet and salty and, while most flavors rotate daily, it will remain on the shelves throughout the holiday season.
The ice cream’s key ingredient is peanut butter ground fresh every day by the dedicated volunteers at Project Open Hand, a non-profit organization that provides meals, groceries, and nutritional counseling to people living with HIV/AIDS, seniors, and homebound people living with serious illnesses. Peanut butter is a client favorite and, in order to cut costs, Project Open Hand decided to grind their own. As a result, the peanut butter is all natural, trans-fat free, and contains just one ingredient – peanuts.
Humphry Slocombe is the hottest ice cream shop to hit San Francisco’s Mission District. Gourmet Magazine claims that “this hipper-than-thou establishment is the latest jewel in the ice-cream-goes-up-scale crown.” Named after Mr. Humphries and Mrs. Slocombe in the famous British sitcom “Are You Being Served?,” this artisanal ice cream shop presents creative concoctions and surprising tastes that leave ice cream lovers begging for more.
Humphry Slocombe Operations Manager Sean Vahey states, “We are excited about this partnership for its potential to create awareness about Project Open Hand through ice cream!” Not only will this partnership increase awareness about a well-respected, benevolent organization, but a portion of the proceeds from each ice cream purchase will benefit Project Open Hand’s meal and nutrition services. Project Open Hand Executive Director Tom Nolan remarks, “This is a very sweet partnership and it’s a great way for us to help educate the community about Project Open Hand.”
Humphry Slocombe and Project Open Hand are co-hosting a launch party for this inaugural ice cream flavor’s debut on Monday, December 6th from 4-7pm at the ice cream shop at 2790 Harrison Street. They will serve free champagne and free Open Hand Fluffer Nutter while supplies last! And, while you’re there you can pick up a pint of ice cream and a few of Humphry Slocombe’s famous duck fat pecan pies to bring home for the holidays.

I think you should thank Humphry Slocombe and Project Open Hand. I have nothing to do with it except helping to spread the word. 🙂
