Lanie brought me some Meyer Lemons as a thank you gift yesterday because I had shared some local organic oranges I had brought at the farmer’s market with her weeks prior when we studied together at the University’s library. Talk about reciprocity.
These lemons are from her tree and they tasted wonderful. I sliced them up and had them in tea this afternoon. While I have always been fond of food, I have never really thought much about lemons. So I wiki Meyer lemons and found that these lemons are actually native to China, and are improved in the United States after Frank Nicholas Meyer’s introducing them to the U.S. in the 1970’s. The popularity of these lemons soar after national attention from Martha Steward and Alice Waters of Chez Panisse. Wow!
I included the wiki page link here for you to read if you so desired.
