I am combining a few posts into this one.
Food + Street Festivals + Street Photography = Fun filled weekend Photo Ops.
This is from the Urban Air Market in Hayes Valley in San Francisco. September 16, 2012. Food, music, fashion shoots, and 150+ designers all in Hayes Valley this Sunday. I didn’t capture all the photos because I didn’t have my camera with me (I know!) and I had to use my cell phone cam to do the work.

This sculpture was in the middle of the park in Hayes Valley. Looks like a representation of Tree of Life?
I didn’t eat any ice cream, but Smitten Ice Cream was hugely popular yesterday due to the weather being *perfect* for ice cream here. And ice cream being popular when there’s a street fair.
Saving the most novel for last…
Del Popolo’s Pizza Truck. What’s the big fuss? Del Popolo’s pizza food truck kitchen was modified from a 20 foot transatlantic shipping container and complete with an Italian wood-fired oven. We were so excited to see this mobile pizza kitchen that we wanted to order everything… Except that they only have three choices. 1) Margherita; 2) White Ricotta; 3) Meat. Also, you can only order 2 pies per person, but the size of the pies will feed two people or if you are really hungry, you can eat one yourself. So we opted to try the Margherita and the Meat and took it to go, so we can taste the pizzas for lunch/dinner. 🙂
The crust was crispy on the outside, and tasted slightly doughy and chewy inside. Almost slightly undercooked. The sauce tasted fresh although this isn’t my favorite pizza sauce I have ever tasted. The ingredients tasted fresh and we were both surprised by how spicy the meat pizza was. Love the touch of kale in that one. Overall, good pizza (not the best), novel way of bringing pizza to everyone, and a touch on the expensive side for such a small pie.
Long lines to order…
Oh wow – those pizzas are making us hungry! It’s only breakfast time 😦
Did you have pizza for lunch? 🙂
Looks like a lot of fun! I definitely would wait in line for the pizza and ice cream! I have never tasted Smitten ice cream; it must be real good!
Thanks Judy. Trying new things and experiencing new adventures are part of daily life… 🙂
That pizza looks absolutely amazing. I should know, I am from Naples, Italy.
Thank you Maurizio. 🙂
Nice photos
I LOVE fairs and markets – really enjoy selling copper things there and looking around, and eating – your pizza photos look great!
Thanks 🙂
Thanks! 🙂
Oh, cool! Yummy food and ice cream, plus lots of people watching. 🙂 That is my kind of place. Great photos.
Thank you Angelia. 🙂
