Mindful Monday: Changes

It seems like it has been a while since I blogged about Mindful Mondays. For good reason. There have been a lot of changes…

The steps challenge ended and we are now setting up a date to wash cars, contribute to our selected charity and PARTY! Yes, we may have lost the challenge to that other team (ugh!) by a few measly steps, but we haven’t lost our sense of fun. So no more updates on that. I am kinda sick of it actually~ It’s over… Let’s move on!

So… What are the Changes?

For one, the most notable change is that these activities motivated me to do more physical activities on my own. I can’t speak for my coworkers, but I get tired of sitting. Nothing wrong with sitting, but when you sit for an entire workday, don’t you get tired of sitting? I am sure people who have jobs that require them to stand all day are sick of standing at the end of that, too. So all I am saying is that when there’s too much (of a good thing), it can be bad.

These physical activities (example: walking), like momentum, helps to nudge us to move on our own. And for me, the challenges that combine exercise with fun (and a bit of competition) are precisely the type of nudge I needed to get moving on my own.

So what about you? What nudges you to move?

For the past month, I have been training for a 5K that’s coming up. I hope to run/walk this year instead of just walk. It should be interesting since I haven’t really run a 5K for a while. I have walked them… Also, I have just started training for a competitive boat race. We are racing under a co-ed novice team, so have been busy learning the ropes (mostly on safety…so important!) as my teammates and I go along. It’s really an upper body sport and I am not really good at that, but toughening up and really enjoying it.

So now we are coming to the other change

I am blogging just a little less often (not everyday but still aiming to blog a few times a week), still checking in often to respond to your comments, and of course, check into your blog and read what’s happening with you.

Hope everyone have a wonderful week! x

  2. Great to hear you are busy getting fit. What a great thing that office challenge was. They do say that exercise is a bit like a drug, the more you do the more you want. Best type of drug we’ve heard of 😉

  3. Exercise is the key to feeling good! I wish you well with your 5k!

  4. Best wishes on the 5k! I’m home with a flamed up back injury and missing my usual routine; exercise is fab! 😉
