Fifty years after Marilyn Monroe’s death, she’s still relevant and popular. And even though this song has gone through a few changes over the years, I still like this original one where Elton John sang about Norma Jean. 🙂 It’s hauntingly beautiful.

No, he wrote it long time ago for Norma Jean (Marilyn Monroe) and then they changed the lyrics a little bit for Princess Diana later. The oldie radio here play two versions.
I prefer this version too and yes Merilyn is still an icon
