===================
SAN FRANCISCO, CA–Project Open Hand, a local non-profit food relief organization, and Dynamo Donut, a boutique donut shop in the heart of San Francisco’s Mission District, are excited to announce a new collaborative effort. On Friday, March 18th from 4-6 pm, Dynamo Donut will launch their newest donut flavor, combining Open Hand’s homemade peanut butter with a banana honey glaze. To celebrate the flavor’s unveiling, the bakery will give away free donuts paired with Stiegl Goldbrau, a classic, refreshing, Salzburg lager beer specialty.
The sweet ringlet’s key ingredient is peanut butter ground fresh every day by the dedicated volunteers at Project Open Hand, a non-profit organization that provides meals, groceries, and nutritional counseling to people living with HIV/AIDS, seniors, and homebound people living with serious illnesses. Peanut butter is a client favorite and in order to reduce costs Project Open Hand grinds its own. The peanut butter is all natural, trans-fat free, and contains just one ingredient – peanuts.
Dynamo Donut, earning “Best Doughnuts of 2009” by S.F. Weekly and “Top 10 Dishes to Try before You Die” by 7×7 Magazine, is a donut shop like no other. The bakery creates donuts with a gourmet touch – serving exotic flavors like Maple Apple Bacon, Molasses Guinness Pear, and Strawberry Earl Grey. Owner Sara Spearin makes these melt-in-your-mouth treats using sustainable and locally sourced ingredients – like Project Open Hand’s homemade peanut butter.
Dynamo owner Sara Spearin says, “Dynamo Donut is delighted to support Project Open Hand, an organization that has created a high quality product to support its mission. Project Open Hand’s handmade peanut butter continues the pursuit of utilizing the finest ingredients to produce our artisan donuts.”
Executive Director Tom Nolan remarks, “We value support from local businesses in the Bay Area and we are excited about community support from Dynamo Donut.”
Dynamo Donut and Project Open Hand are co-hosting a launch party for the donut’s debut on Friday, March 18th from 4-6 pm at the bakery at 2760 24th Street. They will serve free beer and free donuts while supplies last. Guests will be invited to name the new donut. The person who comes up with the winning name will receive a gift certificate for a dozen donuts and a Project Open Hand apron.
